As we saw at Battleground, WWE had a low blow finish for the CM Punk/Ryback match. The idea going in was that both men needed to look strong. Ryback could not look weak right off, because it would hurt his monster status. Punk couldn't either, because it would push him down in the eyes of fans(management feeling of course). As a result, the finish was set to end this way. The feeling is that the rivalry will be renewed at Hell in a Cell, but may ultimately come to a head at Survivor Series.
