Sole Survivor: Andre the Giant

This was the first ever Survivor Series main event. Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant had been the biggest rivalry of 1987, so it was only fitting that the two captained their respective teams in the final match of the November classic. Andre the Giant teamed up with fellow Heenan Family members King Kong Bundy and "Ravishing" Rick Rude as well as Slick's One Man Gang and Butch Reed, forming one of the most physically imposing teams in Survivor Series history.

The Hulkster had a solid squad as well, though. He teamed up with on-again-off-again friend "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, Don Muraco, Olympian Ken Patera and the red-hot newcomer Bam Bam Bigelow. After a couple of back-and-forth eliminations it was Bundy, One Man Gang and Andre vs. Hogan and Bigelow. Then, finally, the crowd got what they wanted as Hogan and Andre went toe-to-toe. The action spilled to the outside, however, and Hogan was counted out leaving Bigelow to fend for himself against the huge trio.

Bigelow amazingly held his own and even went on an offensive flurry. Bigelow hit a sling-shot splash and eliminated Bundy, and after One Man Gang missed the 747 splash, Bam Bam eliminated him as well. It was down to Bigelow and Andre, but Bigelow's superhuman effort came to a stop. After a Bigelow miscue, Andre hit a suplex and got the pin making him the sole survivor.
