“The Animal” Batista returned to the WWE after nearly a four year hiatus on the January 20 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw. On the show, he vowed to win the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble match and go on to main event Wrestlemania 30.
After winning the Royal Rumble match, the fans turned on Batista because the majority of the fans feel that Daniel Bryan should have won the Royal Rumble match. With the “Yes Movement” stronger than ever, fans would rather see Bryan headlining Wrestlemania 30 against Randy Orton.
Batista has fired back at the fans via Twitter for the negative crowd reactions that he’s received:
Seems that people think Im joking when I say I don’t let the opinions of negative asshole dictate my life. Think again.. #onelife Peace!

By the way…I left because I had to not because I wanted to. And I came back because I wanted to not because I had to. #dreamchaser

The response comes after last night’s episode of WWE Raw where Batista was showered with boos during his rematch with Alberto Del Rio and post match promo after the match. Randy Orton came out and immediately made light of the negative reaction that Batista was receiving from the fans by saying “I don’t know if you could tell or not, but the fans don’t seem to like you very much. I bet you’re sorry you ever came back”.
Batista’s response was a Cena-esque monologue where he expressed that he came back because he loves the business and he respects the crowd’s opinion. He reiterated that he is going to the Wrestlemania main event and that he is going to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He ended the speech by telling the fans to “deal with it”.
During Batista’s Twitter tirade, he mentioned that he left in 2010 because he had to leave and not because he wanted to. The reason he’s referring to is that Batista legitimately suffered a compression fracture of his L1 spine. While he healed from the broken back, he turned to a less dangerous movie career in Hollywood.
After healing up, Batista attempted a career in Mixed Martial Arts, but never gained the steam he wanted. With a huge role in Marvel’s upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie set to release in August, Batista’s return to the WWE was thought to be beneficial to the company and potentially impact WWE stock in a positive way.
This is the likely reason for Batista being pushed straight to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture immediately after his return, but it’s clear that WWE fans would much rather see Daniel Bryan get the opportunity. Bryan’s popularity in the WWE has been white hot this year and doesn’t seem to be wavering. It seems that in this case, Batista is simply the victim of bad timing.
