Paul Heyman is one of CM Punk’s closest friends and
arguably his biggest ally during his early years in the WWE. At this
point in the ongoing saga that is CM Punk’s departure, we are all still
relatively clueless on whether or not CM Punk is truly done with the
WWE. All we’ve gotten are rumors, speculations and pure guesswork from a
variety of sources.
Heyman recently spoke with Bill Donnelly of The Infamous to promote WWE’s WrestleMania XXX. He elaborated on his phenomenal promo he had in Chicago a few weeks ago in which he juggled the topics of CM Punk and The Undertaker’s streak match which only very few could of done on Heyman’s level. He does speak on his role in today’s WWE and hilariously does say how he would want WrestleMania 30 to end.
The biggest item that was spoken about was if CM Punk will ever return to the WWE. His response does provide answers but also added more questions that need to be answered. Here are the highlights of the interview:
His recent CM Punk promo in Chicago:
“The easiest interview I’ve ever done in my entire career. Because I knew the task at hand. Think about this. I didn’t say one disparaging thing about CM Punk. It’s because I have nothing disparaging to say about him. I said, “If CM Punk were in this ring tonight, he would prove to everyone that he is what he always claims to be: The best in the world.” And I believe that to be true! I said everything about CM Punk that I felt in my heart and at the end of the day, we don’t have that television show on the air to sing the praises of those who are not with us or just heap praise on people because we like them. The television show is a promotional vehicle to entice the audience to purchase the network or the individual pay-per-view. My task at hand is to elicit the response from the viewer that they find the Brock Lesnar versus Undertaker match compelling enough to purchase the pay-per-view or get involved with WWE Network to see the match. So when I went out in Chicago, I knew my responsibility was to sell you on Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker any way that I had to, which included sitting there for the first ten minutes and discussing the 800-pound elephant in the room, which is why CM Punk wasn’t appearing in his hometown.”
Does he think CM Punk will be back in a WWE ring soon?
“You know, there were only three people in the room that night, and that was CM Punk, Vince McMahon and Triple H, and none of the three have talked about it. So whether CM Punk will ever or won’t ever appear in WWE again is truly only known by the three people that were in the room on that given evening. Anything else that is stated about it is merely speculation.”
Settling into a new role these days:
“I think I’m even more passionate now than I ever have been in my life but I’m more mature and therefore I’ve learned the art of diplomacy in stark contrast to the act of being bombastic and screaming at the top of my lungs to make myself be heard.”
How WrestleMania XXX should end:
“With Brock Lesnar dragging Daniel Bryan, Triple H, Randy Orton or Dave Batista back out of their celebration, out to the ring, and pinning them on top of the already vanquished Undertaker and leaving Wrestlemania 30 not only as the man who broke the streak but the man who leaves as the Undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion. But that’s just my vision. I don’t know if it’s shared by others.”
CM Punk, Vince McMahon and Triple H are the only three individuals who have all the information. No other pro-wrestler, industry expert or smart fan has any true knowledge of the situation, and anything they do say is indeed only speculation on their part. CM Punk has kept to himself and hasn’t spoken about the WWE since he left. Vince McMahon and Triple H probably only want to focus on WrestleMania and don’t want to bring more attention to CM Punk’s departure.
Only those three have the answers, and none of them are talking. It’ll be a couple more months or until 2015 that we get any new information that comes from those two and that is not speculative information. The reason for why CM Punk left can only truly be known by those three because obviously Punk told them in that meeting.
