The Extreme Rules pay-per-view isn't getting a
great deal of attention, but there are a few matches on the card that
could be classic. What some may find strange is that not one of them is
the main event.
Ryback and John Cena's clash for the WWE
title will drive the primary storyline, but as pure in-ring action
goes, these three matches will steal the show from the main event.Notice the distinct Shield flavor...
US Championship — (c) Kofi Kingston vs. Dean Ambrose
image from WWE Instagram
If you want to see one of the best blends of in-ring athletics and theatrics, this is the one match from the event you don't want to miss.
No one in the WWE is as athletic and exciting as Kofi. When he's matched with the right opponent, his moves come off excellently. Aside from Dolph Ziggler—whom the event will definitely miss—no other Superstar sells opponent's moves like Ambrose.
He's an excellent mixture of old-school heelism and new-school feel. This could be the type of match that vaults Kofi into the next stratosphere.
There are so many ways this one could go; the result and drama could be just as compelling as the in-ring action.
This is good stuff.
Tag Team Championship — (c) Team Hell No vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns — Tornado Tag Match
Daniel Bryan and Kane have already been involved with one classic match with The Shield; this will be yet another epic confrontation.
It seems like the time may have come for Team Hell No to drop the titles. If so, giving The Shield some gold would seem like a logical step in their meteoric rise.
Fandango vs. Chris Jericho
The theme music of Fandango has gone viral. His dancing machinations and other hype are a cool package, but the guy is pretty solid in the ring too.
Hopefully they will get 10 to 15 minutes of time to shine athletically and tell a story.
