As was seen at WWE’s recent Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, WWE superstar Rey Mysterio was featured on the Spanish commentary team throughout the entire event. Although, his non-wrestling appearance likely does not signal a return to the ring on WWE programming. Even though he has participated in WWE’s recent tour of Mexico, his in-ring return may have to wait.
According to Wrestling Observer, WWE officials feel that Mysterio would be risking another injury in the ring if he does anything physical. The officials would prefer that Mysterio’s quadricep muscles strengthen more before making a return in order to ensure a clean bill of health after being physical in the ring.
Mysterio took a leave of absence from WWE in March due to a knee injury that would later be put into storyline with an attack by Mark Henry. The high flyer’s last in-ring appearance for a pay-per-view was in January of 2013 when he entered the Royal Rumble as its fourteenth entrant.
