Right now, there is an option for several concepts. Both John Cena and Sheamus are set to be back by the event. However despite rumors, neither are the favorite right now according to backstage sources. Both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are the two big names. If Bryan is not WWE Champion by this point, it could be expected that he would be a big favorite if he is involved.
However, Punk is the big one right now. The reason being that WWE wants to entice him to stay once his contract lets up in the summer. While he has been at Wrestlemania in a match for the WWE Title, it was not the real main event on the card. Rock/Cena was the match with the most put into it. This could be WWE's way of putting him in that area, to push the concept that they really want him to stay.
Despite this however, Punk does want to take time off once his contract ends. This does not mean retirement, although Punk has dangled this out there for years now. Telling fans that he may not go as long as others. It's possible that he takes the Fall off and is back by January of 2015. But that is not confirmed. He always could sign a new deal with the company. But the big story right now is that Punk is most likely the winner of the 2014 Royal Rumble.
