The biggest little man in professional wrestling put a smile on the
crowd’s faces for over a decade with his innovative offense and
high-flying style that couldn’t be replicated in his time. However, that
may be ending due to multiple injuries and age now being a factor.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rey Mysterio’s WWE contract is ending in the next few months and his future at World Wrestling Entertainment is in jeopardy.
That sincerely was his last memorable moment in professional wrestling. Why should WWE keep a guy that is hurt more than he is healthy?
Yes, Mysterio has given thousands of hours to the company and did whatever Vince McMahon and the WWE brass told him to do. He will always remain a symbol of the Latin America community in pro wrestling. However, all good things come to and end sometime. Mysterio’s time could be done sooner rather than later.

Mysterio’s contract is the next major one to expire, in about two months or so. He has one of the highest downsides, and is also one of the biggest merchandise sellers. He’s got all the knee issues and it’s clear from his return that WWE has no plans to feature him. Usually at this point WWE would be aggressively trying to get him to sign a new deal and that hasn’t really been the case. When there was talk of him not coming back some time ago, some of the company’s business partners in Latin America freaked out because he’s the most important guy it is believed in those markets. But it’s long gone from the days when Smackdown was a top ten rated show in the Hispanic demo when he was there, and dropped greatly when he wasn’t.Mysterio hasn’t been relevant since his WWE Championship match with John Cena on Raw a few years ago. Remember, that was the Raw when CM Punk returned after winning the belt at Money in the Bank. Mysterio was used as a bumper to fuel the Punk/Cena feud.
